Unclaimed 77 Million Lottery Ticket, The Illinois Lottery announced Tuesday that 77 top tickets worth about $2.4 million have not been claimed and are reminding lottery players to check their tickets as the first unclaimed ticket is set to expire early in 2012.
In 2011, five winning Mega Millions tickets sold in Illinois worth $250,000 each remain unclaimed Tuesday, the lottery said. The first of the five winning tickets is set to expire Jan. 4, 2012.
In Illinois, Lottery players have one year from the date of the drawing to claim their prizes.
The Mega Millions tickets were sold Jan. 4 at the Meijer Gas Station at 735 E. Boughton Road in Bolingbrook; Feb. 1 at the Thornton’s Market at 306 E. Stotlar in Herrin; May 27 at the Casey’s General Store at 1525 W. Mound Road in Decatur; June 7 at the Circle K at 1400 E. Steger Road in Crete, and Sept. 27 at the DeKalb Mobil at 2400 Sycamore Road in DeKalb.
Additionally, four Powerball second-place tickets worth $200,000 each and 19 Little Lotto prizes ranging from $20,000 to $650,000 also have not been claimed, the lottery said. Forty-seven $1,000 St. Patrick’s Day Raffle tickets also were unclaimed.
The winning Powerball tickets were sold Jan. 15 at the Clark Gas Station at 931 E. Roosevelt Road in Lombard; March 26 at the Home Run Liquors & Food at 85 E. Main St. in Round Lake Park; Sept. 21 at the Pride of Westchester No. 1 at 11201 Cermak Road in Westchester; and Nov. 2 at the Gateway Newsstand at 175 W. Jackson Blvd. in Chicago.
