Umass, University of Massachusetts, band director George Parks was honored with a moment of silence before the Minutemen winningest team played college football at Michigan Stadium.

Umass senior Caity Bogdan said the band voted to make Saturday just two days after Parks 57-year-old died of an apparent heart attack in Ohio during the trip to the game.

The famous band known as “The power and the kind of New England” dedicated its halftime show spirit to the Parks.

He was director of the school band for 33 years and was a music teacher.

UMass Chancellor Robert C. Holub says her death was “an extraordinary loss” in a message posted on the school website.
