Silva and Sonnen 60,000 each received bonuses from the UFC, which gives it its fight against the award of the night to fight. Silva has an additional 60,000 for an award presentation night.
The last time Smith finished a middleweight opponent was March 2008, when he presented his teammate, Dan Henderson Sonnen with a rear-nakd choke in the second round after stunning him with blows. Henderson used a similar approach to Sonnen who took advantage of the weakness of Silva in wrestling.
