Vahe Gregorian has this update on Tyler Gabbert, the Parkway West quarterback.
Gabbert will visit Missouri this weekend. He originally had committed to sign with Nebraska but pulled out of that commitment on Tuesday night.
Gabbert’s father told Gregorian that Tyler didn’t want to visit Missouri while still committed to Nebraska.
The visit doesn’t necessarily mean Gabbert will sign with Mizzou, where his older brother Blaine is the starting quarterback. It is unclear if he will visit other schools.
His older brother, Blaine, also originally committed to Nebraska but switched to MU after a coaching change at Nebraska.
The national signing day is in February and all commitments are non-binding.
Earlier this season, MU coach Gary Pinkel made it a point to fly in by helicopter to see Gabbert play in a 41-14 loss to Webster Groves. Gabbert completed 8 of 18 passes for 132 yards and one TD.
Tyler Gabbert, listed at 6-1, 195 by his high school, passed for 1,148 yards and eight touchdowns with four interceptions as a senior. He completed 109 of 229 passes. He also rushed for 188 yards and two touchdowns on 78 carries.
Tyler originally committed to the Cornhuskers in June. He was ranked No. 19 among QB prospects by scout.com after his junior season when he passed for 1,850 yards and 18 TDs with five interceptions.
Tyler trivia: In 2000, he won the 8-9 age group in the NFL’s Punt, Pass & Kick competition.
