Traverse City Shooting

Traverse City Shooting, (AP) – businessman and former country club golf pro is dead in a murder-suicide shooting near downtown Traverse City.
Police Capt. Steve Morgan identified the victims today than 49 years, Michael Lawton Teter and 44 years, William A. Welch, local residents.

Morgan said in a news release that Teter Welch confronted in a parking lot after a meeting Thursday afternoon, made a comment about infidelity and Teter shot twice, killing him. Welch, then shot himself fatal.

Police said both men were in the process of divorce. The Traverse City Record-Eagle reports that Teter has acknowledged in court documents having an affair with the wife of Welch.

Teter has been president of a prosthetics and orthotics company, while Welch has previously worked as golf pro at the Traverse City Golf & country club.
