Trapped Idaho Miner, Officials of luck Friday Mine in Idaho Sunday canceled the rescue of a trapped miner for more than a week; change the search and recovery mission.

Larry Marek, a 30-year mining veteran, was caught after a landslide at the mine in Mullan, Idaho, and officials said Krem-TV.

“Words can not express the deep sorrow we feel for the tragic loss of our friend, colleague and 30-year veteran of the mining industry. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, loved ones and friends,” Hecla, owner of the mine, said in a statement.

Efforts will now focus on the recovery of his body, authorities said.

Rescue crews had dug a tunnel 220 feet to the area of?? Marek was working on, air is pumped through holes and other cameras used to try to locate him, the station said.

Marek, 53, was caught April while working in an area of?? More than a mile underground with his brother. His brother was able to escape.
