Top Infomercial Products

Top Infomercial Products, Response magazine has listed the top 50 infomercials of 2011. These commercials aren’t the flashy or funny spots that are celebrated during the Super Bowl but those blue-collar bulletins that drone on day in and night out — at 2 or 3 in the morning when you’re flipping past channels in a half-stupor — that may defy logic but just keep selling.
The top infomercials rated by Response for last year was Wen hair products with Lifestyle Lift in the second spot and Nu-Wave Oven at number three. Fitness and diet products tend to lead the way in the infomercial category, according to Response, but there are a lot of players “infoming” the public.
“Overall household products made up the third largest category of infomercials in 2011. Euro-Pro’s Shark brand had another strong year with its Shark Navigator Lift Away (#4 overall) and the original Shark Navigator, the Shark Steam Pocket (#10), the Shark Vac-then-Steam (#24) and the Shark Press & Refresh all scoring well,” noted the magazine.
Several companies had banner years with infomercials in 2011. “Hampton Direct…had a strong 2011 with the ultra-popular Pajama Jeans leading the way. Hampton Direct’s Total Pillow, Wonder Hanger, Furniture Fix and Twin Draft Guard also enjoyed success,” stated Response.
“TELEBrands launched a plethora of new products in 2011. Chef Basket, One Second Needle, Aluma Wallet, Slice-O-Matic, Plaque Blast, Royal Ring, Comfy Control, Pasta Boat, Supreme 90 Day, Pet Rider, Snap-On Feathers, Robo Stir, Shed Pal, OrGreenic and Slim Away all had successful appearances,” the magazine noted.
The one thing you can say about infomercials is the stability they bring to the TV dial. Just when you’re ready to despair the way shows come and go, you can take comfort knowing that “The Perfect Meatloaf” has been airing constantly since March 2011. It’s a comfort to know that, as a country, we can just flip on a TV at almost any time to hear about the 10-Minute Trainer or the Gyro Bowl.
