Top Democrat Weiner, Two leading House Democrats said Thursday an ominous destination for sex, scandal-plagued Rep. Anthony Weiner, Democrat this as the New York dug in their heels and refused to resign. And though neither joined the flood of calls for the embattled lawmaker to resign, the message was clear.
“There’s an old saying, Who was it who said,” Do not murder someone who is committing suicide, “Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (quoting Pres Woodrow Wilson). When asked if the spiral of scandals Weiner had become a distraction for Democrats, Democrat of Illinois, said: “He has serious problems that will not go away soon.”
Rep. James Clyburn, Democrat of South Carolina, the third Democrat in the House, said: “What he does, he does, but I think the Caucus may have something to say about it ….”
The congressman, on his way to the budget negotiations of both parties with Vice President Joe Biden, D-Del., said, “It’s not a distraction for me. I’m still focused on deficit reduction.” But when asked if his colleague from New York had brought dishonor to the House, Clyburn turned and said: “In and of itself.”
