Tom Bergeron, Thomas Robert “Tom” Bergeron (born May 6, 1955) is an American television personality and host of the game, better known as the host of the ABC reality series Dancing with the Stars (2005-present) and host of America’s Funniest Home Videos (2001-present). It was also the host of Hollywood Squares (1998-2004) and a fill-in host who wants to be a millionaire. He is a Daytime Emmy winner. He was born in Haverhill, Mass., and resides in Connecticut.
Bergeron first job in broadcasting was as a disc jockey at local radio station WHAV in his hometown of Haverhill, Massachusetts. It was a popular radio DJ in the Seacoast region of New Hampshire in the early 1980s on WHEB Portsmouth, where he played comedy records and interviews with music and offbeat. His voice professional and friendly personality won him additional TV and radio interviews.
One of his first jobs in television was as host of a local game show, Granite State Challenge New Hampshire Public Television (NHPTV flagship station to Wenhai-TV). He moved to the Boston market in February 1982, joining WBZ-TV as a general personality on the air. His first roles at the station have been a contributor particular evening magazine (1982-87), and accommodation brief segments of information and show known as 4 today, every 30 minutes during the day programming WBZ (1983-87). In 1984, he landed on accommodation Lottery Live, the drawings of the evening games of the Massachusetts State Lottery. One of the judges, three guys (one of which looked surprisingly similar to the comedy actor Jonah Hill) displayed via a laptop on a table, to criticize the dance over-the-top terrible same-sex Judson and Jackson (a transvestite Tosh) with a throwaway line, “Blow me Bergeron, your wife is hot.” [via online sources]
