TJ Lane Chardon, Officials are confirming a Tuesday afternoon court appearance for TJ Lane, the suspect in a deadly school shooting that killed one student, left another brain dead and wounded several others. The Geauga County Juvenile Court says alleged shooter TJ Lane is scheduled for a hearing at 3:30 p.m. in Chardon Tuesday.

A family lawyer identified Lane as the suspect in the shootings at Chardon High School Monday morning.

A student who saw the attack up close said it appeared that the gunman targeted a group of students sitting together and that the one of those who was killed was gunned down while trying to duck under a cafeteria table.

After the deadly shooting, three students were transported to MetroHealth Medical Center. Daniel Parmertor, 16, died from injuries shortly after being flown to the hospital. Russell King Jr. was declared brain dead Monday evening. The third shooting victim at MetroHealth is listed in critical condition.

The remaining two victims, a 17-year-old boy and an 18-year-old girl, were taken to Hillcrest Hospital. The boy was last listed in serious condition and the girl was reported to be in stable condition.

The shooter’s family is mourning “this terrible loss for their community,” attorney Robert Farnacci said in a statement. FBI officials would not comment on a motive for the shooting.

An education official said Lane is a Lake Academy student, not a student at Chardon High.
