Tips For Trimming College Costs, The price of college tuition is already amazing, but according to a new report by researchers at the University of Alabama, students and families are about to take another hit in the wallet.
According to the study, higher education is a major element of discretion in the budgets of state government. If state revenues do not recover and the unemployment rate remains stagnant, higher education is a possible target of potential cuts first.
Unfortunately for students, nationally, tuition is one of the few ways that many many public higher education institutions have to supplant the budget short falls. The study predicts that enrollment will increase by twice the inflation rate next year.
The report is based on an annual survey of directors of community colleges. Researchers believe that these directors provide an overview of 50 000 feet in higher education, offering views across the state of access and funding for community colleges, public universities, regional, and world-class universities.
The researchers say there has been little sign of recovery of recesssion, but not enough to curb the rising cost of tuition. ”
“My prediction is that students will see tuition prices go up next year,” says study co-author, Steve Katsina. “I would not be surprised if next year came.”
