Tim Sylvia, After a disappointing turn of events, former UFC Heavyweight Champion Tim “The Maniac” Sylvia was beaten by former Ultimate Fighter contestant Abe Wagner 10. Wagner has needed just 32 seconds to leave Sylvia, which seems too fast for the native of Maine, who fought since the beginning of the struggle with the speed of his opponent’s hand. This loss puts an abrupt end to Sylvia fight to win four series; he finished Jason Riley, Mariusz Pudzianowski Buenatello Paul and Vince Lucero, all via shutdown due to strikes.
Speaking after the fight, Wagner said:
“I thought I had an advantage of higher speed (Tim Sylvia). I wanted to put pressure on him, and I knew that if I’m inside of his jab, I’d be money.”
Despite recently stating that he would retire once he had won another title, the devastating KO loss could be the end of his career. Sylvia looked like a fish out of water against the speed of Wagner. Sylvia weighed in this fight to a record high of 311 lbs. The loss of Wagner brings Sylvia MMA record to 28-7 overall.
Before his victory over Riley, Sylvia has lost a title fight with Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira UFC, before requesting the release of his UFC contract. Following the loss, Fedor Emelianenko fought Sylva, losing by rear nked choke in the first round at Affliction: Banned.
