The Office Spinoff 2013

The Office Spinoff 2013, “The Office’s” Dwight Schrute may be getting a huge promotion – to beet farmer. NBC is developing a spinoff of its hit sitcom around Rainn Wilson’s fan-favorite character. “The Office” show runner Paul Lieberstein is also involved in the new show, which is eyed for a midseason 2013 launch, reported.

The proposed spinoff would feature Schrute returning to his family’s beet farm and bed-and-breakfast – a long-running joke on “The Office.”

“Paul and Rainn have been joking for years about Dwight’s life on the farm, his family and how ill-suited he is to run a B&B,” a source told Deadline. “A while ago, it started to feel like a show to them.”

Spinoffs aren’t always successful, but for every “Joey” (from “Friends”), there’s a “The Jeffersons” (from “All in the Family”) or a “Frasier” (from “Cheers”).

Wilson is expected to continue to man his cubicle at Dunder Mifflin, though, for the near future. The network is expected to renew “The Office” – which survived the departure of series star Steve Carrell last season – for a ninth go-around.
