The Hoff Crab David Hasselhoff

January 4, 2012 by staff

The Hoff Crab David Hasselhoff, The BBC reports that scientists in the UK have found a new species of crab which has affectionately been nicknamed ‘The Hoff’ because it sports the definitive Hoff trademark – a hairy chest.

“Their nickname on the cruise ship was the ‘Hasselhoff crab,’ which gives you some idea of what they look like,” explains Professor Alex Rogers, leader of the research cruise which found mass amounts of the crab around the volcanic vents off South Georgia.

Much to our disappointment, the similarities between ‘The Hoff’ crab and the actual Hoff (as in David Hasselhoff) end there. The crustacean lacks the horrific spray tan, lifeguard speedos and short-lived singing career which make the Hoff so awesome. It also doesn’t have a role on America’s Got Talent under it’s belt. Probably.

The crab has yet to be formally named, but with the rate that the Hoff is putting his face on things these days (t-shirts, mugs, bad reality television…) we reckon it’s just a matter of time before these hairy little buggers are sporting the slogan “Don’t Hassel the Hoff!”
