Newsweek, established in 1933, was sold by the Washington Post a businessman Sidney Harman and earlier this year.
The new company, Newsweek Daily Beast Company will be jointly owned by Mr. Harman and the IAC, which owns websites including Ask.com and Reference.com.

“In a somewhat difficult time, this merger provides the ideal combination of established authority and intelligent journalism bright, bristling web site,” said Harman.
Just last month, Tina Brown, wrote in the Daily Beast site that the deal did not happen.
However, confirmed the deal had been sealed with a coffee on Tuesday night in Manhattan and the details of the agreement drafted in on Thursday night.
“Some marriages take longer to plan than others,” he wrote.
