Texas Psychiatrist Sex Abuse

November 18, 2011 by staff

Texas Psychiatrist Sex Abuse, A child psychiatrist at a Texas state hospital was dismissed after a state agency charged he had molested a patient, officials said.

The Department of Protective and Family Services said it confirmed at least two instances of sexual abuse by Dr. Charles Fischer, 59, the Austin American-Statesman reported. The Department of State Health Services fired Fischer, effective Monday, from his post in the child and adolescent unit of Austin State Hospital.

Patrick Crimmins, a spokesman for the investigating agency, said police were alerted to the findings. Fischer had not been charged by police as of Wednesday.

Fischer was the target of several allegations of sexual abuse over the years, Crimmins said. But none were confirmed until this year.  No details were released about the alleged victim.
