This is somewhat of a niche market, but for customers Verizon FiOS there, it is also pretty cool.

The FiOS TV application turns your iPhone into a remote control that operates your set-top box FiOS. The application has all the main functions of a regular FiOS remote, with the added benefit of having access to the iPhone keyboard to type in the names of programs and the programs you are looking for.
