Ted Williams Homeless, (AP) - A homeless man whose silky voice of Ohio made it a web phenomenon is headed to rehab for alcohol and drug addiction after an appearance on “Dr. Phil”, said Wednesday representatives show.
Ted Williams has agreed to enter a private school, after a long one-on-one interview with Dr. Phil McGraw set to air Thursday show spokeswoman Stacey Luchs said in a written statement.
Williams’s wife and family also appear to discuss what they call the consumption of alcohol and a persistent disturbance Monday in a Los Angeles hotel where the police briefly detained Williams and her daughter after a heated argument.
Williams was living at the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel & Spa, while in the city with several TV appearances band. The police described the incident as “minor” and said there were no signs of physical abuse.
Family members said the dispute was over Williams resumed drinking.
“If Ted is always getting better, it got to be honest with himself and admit he is addicted to drugs and alcohol,” McGraw said in a statement. “I told him that he will not be easy and it will take a lot of hard work. It could be a long journey for him, but it’s a big step in the right direction. ”
The third aspect is Williams on the show this week.
Meanwhile in his home state, Williams has been subpoenaed in the case of a woman who has been accused of abuse, authorities said.
The Madison Press in London, Ohio, said Williams was a passenger in the car of the woman in May and is looking at a February 11 hearing over whether the pursuit of Deputy Ministers of the car was legal.
Laura Bogrees, which represents the woman, refused to comment on the newspaper on the relationship of women to Williams.
Williams, 53, trained to be a radio host, but found her life derailed by drug addiction and prison time in the 1990s.
Last week, he had instant fame after the newspaper The Columbus Dispatch has posted a video of it on the Web. The spectators were thrilled to hear a deep voice and honeyed professionals from the poorly dressed man.
Since then he has appeared on numerous news and entertainment, made a TV commercial for Kraft Macaroni & Cheese was offered a job with the announcing team of Cleveland Cavaliers basketball.
