Ted Danson Joining ‘CSI’

Chosen as the big name to replace the output Laurence Fishburne, Danson, who in recent years has been mixed with comedy (HBO’s “Bored to Death” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm”) and drama (FX “Damages”), Danson could not have been the first choice for CBS, according to Entertainment Weekly, which reports that “offers out to players like Tony Shaloub, Robin Williams and John Lithgow before the study came to Danson.”
Whatever. Danson has a range that was suggested only in years of “Cheers” and I would say it will be good to have him back on Thursday nights, except that “CSI” moves to Wednesdays this fall. (CBS says it will make its debut in the September 21 Season 12 premiere.)
Best of all, it will be permanent as a regular in “Bored to Death,” according to CBS
