Taylor Swift Billboard, Taylor Swift, Grammy-winning four times and the biggest best selling artist in any genre record for the past 12 months, has been chosen to receive the coveted Woman of the Year at the 2011 Billboard Women in Music event the December 2 in New York.
The 21-year-old singer-songwriter is the youngest artist to receive the award to date, and comes at a busy time for the star. Taylor recently won several Billboard Music Awards 2011, including Top Country Album for the five times platinum selling “Speak Now”.
Swift has spent the last year in the Tour of speaking now of the world in support of their third album, which sold over a million copies in its first week. Taylor wrote the 14 songs on the album, and made history by charting 11 Hot 100 songs in one week.
Taylor is also a dedicated and prolific philanthropist, having given their time and efforts to raise money for causes ranging from clean water to the literacy of relief. She donated personally and $ 1 million to charity in the last year.
The Annual Billboard Women in Music event, now in its sixth year, celebrates the most powerful women and talented in the music business, coinciding with the publication of Women in Power of the Billboard Music Player List. This year the event will take place on Friday December 2 at Capitale in New York City. Honor last year was for the Black Eyed Peas singer, Fergie.
