WWE Royal Rumble

WWE Royal Rumble, Brodus Clay has taken the WWE by storm as his Funkasaurus gimmick has gotten over very well. When we were first shown videos hyping Clay’s Raw debut, he was shown to be a dominant monster.

Weeks turned into months as we waited patiently for a man who was gaining a following by not being allowed to wrestle. The night finally came two weeks ago, and it was not what anyone was expecting.

Two dancers came out and proceeded to shake and shimmy as Clay danced his way out onto the stage and into our living rooms through our TVs.

At first I did not know what to make of the gimmick, but by the end of his first match I was sold. He seems to genuinely enjoy the gimmick and it is a nice change from all the wrestlers who simply wear trunks and have a rock theme.

Clay brings something new and, at the same time, old back to WWE. His new look is somewhat of a callback to some of the funner characters from years past.

The Royal Rumble is nine days away and one question I am curious about is how Clay will do in the Rumble match.

He is one of the bigger men in the match, so that will definitely give him an advantage. If WWE wants to push him as being a strong competitor, then having him perform strong in the Rumble could go a long way.

Kane has had some great success getting over in the Rumble without ever actually winning it because he always eliminates a significant amount of superstars.

Brodus should have a similar result if they really want him to be believable as a top name right off the bat.

Guys like Clay have something that can work both in their favor and against them: their size. Someone of Clay’s size needs to be believable as a dominant competitor because he is looked at as needing to perform a little better to look convincing.
