WTC Accident, A crane dropped off its load from about 40 stories of the World Trade Center site when lifting some steel beams Thursday morning, crushing a flatbed truck. No one was injured.

The accident happened at about 10 a.m. at Four World Trade Center, which is located at the southeast corner of the WTC site.

An official from the New York Fire Department said no one was in the damaged truck. One worker received medical check at the scene and was then released, the official said.

The construction site was partly shut down pending an investigation. A dozen of police vehicles were guarding the entrances of the site after the accident.

Tishman, the contractor, said a cable on the crane snapped just before the accident.

There were some nearby subways disruptions after the accident, lasting about an hour.

Four World Trade Center is projected to rise 72 stories. It will be the new headquarters for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
