Lingerie Football has rules similar to those of traditional football, except it is played on a 50-yard field and does not include a kicking game. Sport is a full contact and fast paced action, but the uniforms are anything but traditional. Strapping on helmets hockey is more like the NFL, players in bikini (suspenders included) and thin shoulder pads chase, tackle and block each other in their attempt to advance the football.

“It’s very physical. I come home with bruises covering my body,” said Whitney Meieretto. “It’s not a joke. We are out there hitting. It is not just a bunch of girls running in their underwear.”

Most players echoed the thoughts Skritc, telling their boyfriends, husbands and fathers have been convinced that football is a real lingerie deserves to be recognized as a legitimate professional sports league.

“When you first hear about what kind of everyone’s eyebrows go up,” said Meieretto. “Everyone always thinks it’s just girls running in their underwear, not to play football, but I think we made believers of all families after our first game against Green Bay when they were beating the crap out of each other. ”

Several women’s organizations of rights, including gender justice, the National Organization for Women and the Women’s Consortium of Minnesota, were invited to participate in this story. None has responded.

None of the team’s players are being paid salaries this season, but has not sacrificed the motivation or commitment.
