Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, The Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra will be led by Yuri Klaz with soloists Sarah Halmarson, mezzo-soprano Rosemarie van der Hooft, tenor Christopher Mayell, baritone Mel Braun and the Winnipeg Singers (Dec. 17) and the Brandon University Chorale and Brandon University Concert Choir (Dec. 18). “I did think I did see all Heaven before me and the great God Himself,” George Frideric Handel wrote while composing Messiah in 1741.

Handel’s Messiah is a time-honoured tradition for the Christmas season. Audiences involuntarily stand when they hear the Hallelujah Chorus resound. It’s Handel’s most celebrated oratorio and the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra is once again presenting this choral masterpiece.

Performances take place December 15 in Winkler, December 17 in Winnipeg at Centennial Concert Hall and December 18 in Brandon.

Sarah Halmarson is performing the soprano solo role for the very first time. She is incredibly excited about it and wants you to try and nab one of the few remaining tickets.
