Yellow LobsterYellow Lobster, (New York Daily News) — A rare yellow lobster is likely to have the New England fishermen green with envy.

The week only finding was captured recently in East Passage Narragansett Bay off Newport, Rhode Island, according to The Providence Journal.

“I thought, holy cow, this is unusual,” said Denny Ingram, the lobster fisherman who discovered the curious crustacean in one of his traps. “Nobody around here has ever seen anything like it.”

The color of the lobster is not unusual, but according to experts, is seen in only 1 in 30 million locusts.

lobster shells in general, with three colors: red, yellow and blue. Generally, they are to appear green, due to mixing of these colors. Red becomes dominant, however, when cooked.

Blue lobsters are rare, in general, 1 in 4 million.

A cobalt-blue lobster was caught in New Hampshire in August 2009, and weighed 1.5 pounds.

Ingram says he plans to keep the yellow shrimp on display at the fishermen of the cooperative in the State Pier in Newport.
