Assange Bail, (UKPA) – Wikileaks founder Julian Assange remains in custody after the Swedish prosecutors filed an appeal against a decision by a court in central London to grant him bail.

The Australian 39-year-old wanted in Sweden in relation to claims he sexually assaulted two women. At an extradition hearing to the City of Westminster Magistrates’ Court this afternoon, a judge granted him conditional bail – for him to say two hours later that he should remain behind bars pending the appeal to be heard in the next 48 hours.

Speaking outside court, lawyer Mark Stephens said: “Finally, after two hours we heard that the Swedes will not respect the decision of the referee and they want to embarrass Mr. Assange even more, fresher and more obstacles.

“They clearly will spare no expense to keep Mr. Assange in prison. It’s really become a show trial. We will be in court again in the next 48 hours. But they have not given the courtesy tell us when we in the courts. “Asked how Assange reacted to the news, Mr. Stephens added:” He is phlegmatic. ”

Assange was first taken into custody a week ago, but his legal team has successfully appealed against the decision today, with several well known lenders offering thousands of new books in bonds.

District Judge Howard Riddle granted him bail on condition that constitutes a deposit of £ 200,000 to the court and guaranteed by two sureties each of £ 20,000. He said his passport would remain with the police, he could not apply for international travel, must abide by a curfew and remain at Ellingham Hall near Bungay, Suffolk, an area of 10 rooms, and surrounded 600 hectares of land.

The property is owned by Captain Vaughan Smith, who served in the British army before the establishment of the Club frontline Paddington, London, 2003. Cpt Smith said: “I met Mr. Assange very frequently during the last five months or if the Julian Assange I know he has a number of qualities. It is a very honorable, very courageous, self-deprecating – nothing that you read about. ”

Assange, who appeared in the dock in a black suit and white shirt, also said he would be labeled and must report to a local police station every night. He waved his lawyer as he entered the packed courtroom and spoke to confirm his name, date of birth and address in Victoria, Australia. After hearing that it was not until later the Prosecutor’s appeal to prison, he said: “I understand.”

Gemma Lindfield lawyer, on behalf of the Swedish authorities, said the court during the hearing that he had “already concluded that Mr. Assange is a flight risk.” She said: “He argued that nothing has changed since last week to allay the fears of the court in this regard.”

But Judge Riddle disagrees, saying that two issues had changed since he made his decision to return Assange into custody on Tuesday. Firstly, the address of the old hacker had not been checked by the police when he appeared in the dock last week, while the question of his residence had “been dealt with completely and entirely at my satisfaction, “he said. Second, a question mark hanging last week on his entry into the country, with Ms. Lindfield said there was no trace of him coming to the United Kingdom. But the judge said this issue had also been put in place now and no longer troubled him.
