Dakota Fanning Fragrance Banned, Dakota Fanning’s perfume ad for Marc Jacobs’ Oh, Lola perfume has been banned in the U.K.

The ad features 17-year-old Fanning (best known for her roles in “I Am Sam” and “Taken”) in a short pink dress, holding a vase with a large red flower between her legs. According to the U.K.’sAdvertising Standards Authority, the ad is too racy: “We considered that the length of her dress, her leg and position of the perfume bottle drew attention to her sexuality. Because of that, along with her appearance, we considered the ad could be seen to sexualize child. We therefore concluded that the ad was irresponsible and was likely to cause serious offense.”

The perfume’s maker, Coty UK, noted that it had not received any complaints, and Jacobs himself stood up for the ad, calling the banning “unfortunate” and explaining: “[Fanning] is a smart, pretty, interesting, talented young woman and we would never have suggested an advertising concept that we thought was inappropriate. I believe she is also very thoughtful about the projects she takes on and would not have done something that she felt was in questionable taste.”
