Whoopi Goldberg Poise Commercial

Whoopi Goldberg Poise CommercialWhoopi Goldberg Poise Commercial, As I was flipping around the dial last night, I watched — mouth agape in horror — as Oscar, Emmy, Tony and Grammy Award winner Whoopi Goldberg headlined a commercial for Poise Incontinence Fighting P**ty Liners.

The spot mines history’s greatest women — Cleopatra, Joan of Arc, The Statue of Liberty, Virgin Mary, Eve, Lady Godiva, Mona Lisa — and explains how in moments of great distreess, they accidentally pee themselves. Complete with Whoopi-supplied sound effects.

It is a new low in this ever growing market of Stars Are Just Like Us advertisements, and I blame Jamie Lee Curtis.

Before her green-tinted Activia sports debuted in 2007, a famous actress wouldn’t be caught dead getting that real about her IBS. Sure, teen stars would bemoan blemishes or p**p their perfumes, but those hugely profitable poop-inducing yogurt ads seemingly opened a floodgate for famous female faces to publicly proclaim the all-too-personal problems plaguing their lives — and bodies.

Some, like Sally Field’s Boniva ads, are on the up and up while others feel completely fabricated. I mean, was Claire Danes really so ashamed of her puny eyelashes that she had to resort to Latisse’s potentially blinding lengthening serum?

But the worst of the worst has to be Megan Mullally’s I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter ads from last year. Not because the product is as embarrassing as Whoopi’s or as counterfeit as Claire’s, but because she seems just as ashamed to star in their “Turn The Tub Around” bastardization as we are to watch it.
