Bill Kirk Fired For Protesting Honor For Obama

Bill Kirk Fired For Protesting Honor For Obama, For appearances sake they didn’t fire Bill Kirk right away. No, they waited a couple of years to come up with some kind of an excuse. But Father Tom Doyle, new VP for Student Affairs, let the axe fall with no justifiable reason just before the start of this academic year 2010-11.

Friend and fellow professor, David Solomon, wrote a tribute of gratitude lauding Kirk, with a scathing indictment of the University brass for its retributive injustice to a 22 year dedicated teacher. When it comes to what were once Catholic colleges, for a professor to be publicly “too Catholic” on certain issues is be magister non grata.

Director David Solomon of the ND Center for Ethics and Culture: The decision by Father Tom Doyle, Notre Dame’s new Vice-President for Student Affairs to fire Bill Kirk from his position as Associate Vice-President for Residence Life has left many of us with an empty feeling.

It has also put another dent in Notre Dame’s reputation as a family-friendly and compassionate employer. The decision was both unfair and imprudent.
