Weather Boston, (UKPA) – A rare white Christmas in parts of southern United States has complicated life for some travelers as airlines canceled hundreds of flights, while snow was expected for the national capital and the authorities warned of road travel dangerous.

The National Weather Service, the storm could bring 6 to 10 inches of snow in the Washington area, beginning on Sunday. The Meteorological Service has also been possible to predict snow in New York and Boston areas, with overnight temperatures in the 20s and wind gusts up to 30 mph.

The Carolinas were granted their first white Christmas in decades as the snow began to fall Saturday morning in Asheville, extends Raleigh at noon and was expected to extend to the coast later in the day.

Atlanta Weather, ATLANTA, Georgia – A tornado warning issued by the northeast Clayton County, in southern DeKalb County, Henry County Center, West Central Rockdale County has been canceled. Strong storms continue to push through other parts of North Georgia and Metro Atlanta.

The National Weather Service issued a tornado watch for most of north Georgia and metro area. The watch is effective until 8 pm on Wednesday, meaning that conditions are favorable for tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in and near the watch area.

The following counties in Georgia are included in the tornado watch: Banks, Barrow, Butts, Carroll, Clarke, Clayton, Cobb, Coweta, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Forsyth, Fulton, Greene, Gwinnett, Hall, Hancock, Haralson, Harris , Heard, Henry, Jackson, Jasper, Lamar, Madison, Meriwether, Monroe, Morgan, Newton, Oconee, Oglethrope, Paulding, Pike, Putnam, Rockdale, Spalding, Taliaferro, Troup, Upson, Walton, Warren, and Wilkes.

Approaching thunderstorms west of Alabama, Georgia, near Interstate 20 on Wednesday afternoon, and another line of storms headed toward the northeast Georgia. Joanne Fox 5 Weather Authority Feldman said that some storms are making their way into northern Georgia, and just before the 11 storm caused a tornado warning in several counties. The warning expired at 11:15 am

Another warning for parts of Clayton, DeKalb, Henry and Rockdale County on Wednesday afternoon was canceled later. There were no reported tornadoes.

More storms are possible as the day continues on Wednesday that the cold front continues to push the west through Georgia. If you are in an area where they issued a tornado warning, which is recommended to go to an interior room in your home or a safe building and stay away from windows. Meteorologist Joanne Feldman reminds you to stay on the lowest floor of your home, and put as many walls between you and the tornado as possible.
