Van Halen 2012 TourVan Halen 2012 Tour, The rock band Van Halen plans to tour in 2012. The group made the announcement on Monday, December 26, via a black and white video posted on its website, which also shows guitarist Eddie Van Halen, his son Wolfgang, the band’s bassist, and Van Halen’s brother and longtime drummer Alex performing on stage along with David Lee Roth, or “Diamond Dave,” Van Halen’s first and most famous lead vocalist.

Tickets go on sale on January 10, says a message in the clip, as studio recordings of the hits “Jump,” “Panama” and “Hot For Teacher” play in the background. The songs are featured on the album “1984,” which is the last major record Roth made with the band.

In the video, Roth, ever the showman, wears a flashy jacket, goggles and overalls, waves a giant flag and a stick and showcases his best dance moves that bring to mind Michael Jackson – whose 1983 song “Beat It” features Eddie Van Halen on guitar.

Rumors of a Van Halen reunion began around November after Roth and the Van Halen musicians appeared at the Roxy club in Los Angeles and posed for photos with executives from Interscope Records, as seen on the website Van Halen News Desk. It also reported that the group is working on a new record produced by Ross Hogarth that could hit stores as early as February.

Roth, 57, became Van Halen’s lead singer after the band formed in the early 1970s. Around 1985, the group broke up and Roth concentrated on a solo career. Sammy Hagar replaced him and helped the band score hits such as “Dreams” and “Why Can’t This Be Love.”

Hagar left the group in 1996. That year, the Van Halen brothers reunited with Roth on stage at the MTV Movie Awards. They ultimately parted ways with him again, later introducing Gary Cherone of the group Extreme as the new lead singer of Van Halen. The group never achieved the kind of success it enjoyed in the 1980s.

Van Halen Tour 2012

Van Halen Tour 2012Van Halen Tour 2012, There are some universal truths that most rock fans can’t deny, be they punkers, funkers, rockers or metalheads: That at their prime in the 1970s and ’80s, Van Halen was one of the greatest flat-out rock bands on the planet, and that the combination of David Lee Roth, Eddie Van Halen, Michael Anthony and Alex Van Halen was a force of nature. The band, which rose in Los Angeles in the mid-’70s, announced on Monday an extensive 2012 tour — minus bassist Anthony, unfortunately.

At their peak, the best rock band to ever come out of Pasadena had all the bases covered: As a rhythm section, Alex Van Halen and Anthony worked as a solid but fluid unit in support of Eddie with the magic riffs and fingers, who showboated his technique but understood the importance of a solid melody. (That’s him, remember, soloing on Michael Jackson’s “Beat It.”) And “Diamond” David Lee Roth: There was no better lead singer in all of rock in the ’80s than Roth at his peak, a funny, charismatic charmer whose onstage scissor kicks created a template for dozens of lesser hair metal singers who arrived in his wake.

Van Halen’s evolution has tested the limits of its fan base. There was that whole Gary Cherone nightmare of 2006; and, at the risk of taking sides in a long-running argument, the Sammy Hagar years are best left unmentioned. In 2007 three of the original members — without Anthony, who was replaced on bass by Eddie’s son Wolfgang Van Halen — undertook part of a tour before canceling it midway through so Eddie, who was drinking heavily, could enter rehab. The aborted tour had been well received, and in 2010 rumors started flying about Van Halen being in the studio, and upcoming tour plans. The band signed to Interscope Records in November 2011.
