Valley Fault System, Following the magnitude-6.9 quake that devastated Negros last Monday, officials in Quezon City are studying the possibility of moving at least two schools that are located atop an active fault line.

City officials are considering options that may affect some 10,000 students at Silangan Elementary School and Batasan Elementary School, radio dzBB’s Allan Gatus reported.

The two schools are along the West Valley fault line of the Marikina Valley Fault System.

But the report said Elmo San Diego, head of the city’s Department of Public Order and Safety, admitted it still remains unclear where the two schools could be relocated.

The studying of such plans came days after a magnitude-6.9 quake devastated the Negros region last Monday. At least 26 had been confirmed dead and 71 still missing following the quake.
