Unvarnished:As many of you, I’m trying to find out what personal reputation without ornaments website (currently in beta) in question. I realize I have to access through Facebook Connect before you can kick the proverbial tires. Therefore, before submitting my Facebook profile to an unknown entity, I decide to check out the privacy policy of varnished. I find that I do not understand.

This probably does not come as a shock. Privacy policies are notoriously vague and almost everyone agrees that we should be doing better. But I literally do not understand even the basic premises of what unvarnished intends to do with my information. Take the unadorned statement that “will never share your personal information except as required by law.” How to square this statement with awards unvarnished later that you can share your personal information to affiliates, or business transfer, or every time they “believe in good faith that is necessary … to enforce or apply our conditions Use and other agreements, or protect rights, property or safety of Company, our employees, our users or others “? Does participation in these circumstances required by law?

I can not even begin to understand what it means when varnished says its users “can easily recognize when an affiliated business is associated with the transaction, and we will share personal information that relates to these transactions with affiliated business.” All I can think of is the scene in Good Will Hunting, when Chuckie impersonates Will in an interview. “Now the business we have, so far, could talk to my lawyer mentioned above. Good morning, gentlemen, and until that day comes, keep your ear to the grindstone.”

So why is it important? It is important because without varnish is a new platform with great potential, the basic rules of what can make a big difference, the real world. What if I say anything negative about a friend or colleague? Will they find out? What if someone says something negative about me? How I can as a private litigant to seek redress for defamation ruin my business? However, in order even to sign, I have to give a rich source of personal identifiable information in a set of rules that a lawyer can not even follow privacy.

Painted provides a page on a set of guidelines for the community. These give the user a sense aspiring from the service offered. But do not explain the circumstances in which a user will be outed as having written a particular rating or review.
