Uk vs Austin Peay:Patrick Patterson paced a solid all-around effort with 21 points and nine rebounds, as third-ranked Kentucky won easily in a 90-69 final against Austin Peay at Rupp Arena.
DeMarcus Cousins totaled 19 points and eight rebounds, while freshman sensation John Wall contributed 17 points, six assists and four boards.
Darius Miller chipped in 11 points for the Wildcats (11-0), who crushed Indiana on the road by a 90-73 final their last time out.
Wes Channels hit 5-of-11 three-pointers to finish with 21 points and Duran Roberson notched 16 points for the Governors (7-5), who saw their four-game winning streak come to an end.

Austin Peay was ahead early on after John Fraley hit consecutive jumpers for a 7-3 lead.

Wall knocked down back-to-back three-pointers shortly thereafter to put Kentucky in front, 16-9, but the visiting Governors hung tough, and a Channels three followed by two buckets from Roberson made it a two-point game, 22-20.

The Wildcats ripped off seven of the next eight points to begin a 14-4 run, ending on a Miller trifecta with a little less than seven minutes remaining for a healthy 36-24 advantage.

Anthony Campbell’s dunk with about four minutes to go had the pesky Governors within 40-31, but Kentucky scored the next seven points and carried a 49-35 lead into halftime.

“We played how we practiced this week. I just think that your practice dictates how you are going to play. I think that we were so non-competitive this week because of finals that it carried over into the game,” said Kentucky coach John Calipari.

Channels made things interesting by pouring in the first eight points of the second half to get Austin Peay within six.

Miller’s three-ball eight minutes in saw Kentucky re-establish a 13-point advantage, but the Governors refused to go away, as a Caleb Brown three- pointer dropped for a 70-61 difference with 8:19 to play.

“This game was a lot like I thought it would be. Kentucky, as advertised, is very good. Obviously, they are too big and strong inside for us,” said Austin Peay head coach Dave Loos. ” We hung in there and I was proud of our guys. We hung pretty tough for a good bit of time.”

That’s when Kentucky took over and put the game away with an incredible 18-3 run that lasted until just outside the final minute. Patterson sparked the surge by scoring the first seven points and had nine points during the stretch — all but ending a solid win.
