Ufc 120 Fight Card, Patrick Claude route from Canada to bigtime MMA could never be described as easy, but that’s the only way to breakdown today in the UFC fighting 120 against James Wilks. Patrick Wilks launched around the octagon like a rag doll and once the fight hit the deck, the British could not find a way to get it off your back. Patrick did some nice damage on the ground and rolled to an easy unanimous decision victory, 30-27 on all cards in the opening match of the televised portion of UFC 120 in London.

Wilks dismantling defense missing three rounds. Hit the floor with 3:54 left in the first 3:00, left at 4:04 in the second and final assault. Patrick stood out from time to time to reset but then easily jumped down the guard Wilks. At the end of the fight, Wilks had been back about 11 of the 15 minutes and had a cut under his right eye.

It is still difficult to know if Patrick (13-1, 2-0 UFC) has the opportunity to be an elite fighter in the welterweight division of the UFC. That’s because we do not know how good Wilks (7-4, 2-2 UFC) is.

Wilks, the 170-pound champion of Season 9 of “The Ultimate Fighter” failed to impress again. He is a black belt in jiu-jitsu, but no knockdowns and great attention is much less dangerous.

What we do know about Patrick is that he will work hard to overcome any obstacle. He hails from an area in Canada where MMA was banned until recently. His career gained momentum in 2005, traveled across Canada and the U.S. to train and fight. Patrick was low during all of 2007 after tearing an anterior cruciate ligament in a fight, but has returned strong as seven consecutive victories.
