Tripp Roth Dies, “Tripp wakes up each morning with a smile on his face. Every day spent with him is a blessing,” Tripp Roth’s mother wrote on her blog.

A young boy’s struggle with a horrible skin disease has come to an end.

Tripp Roth, age 2, of Ponchatoula, La., has lost his devastating struggle against junctional epidermolysis bullosa.

Tripp was born with the rare, incurable illness — often called simply “E.B.” Any friction to the skin — even the slightest touch — of someone with the condition can cause excruciating blisters and sores. The blistering can occur anywhere on the body, especially around the eyes, nose and in the mouth and throat, causing problems with eating and swallowing.

The boy was diagnosed shortly after birth and was not expected to live beyond his first year. But with the loving care provided by his mother, Courtney, the toddler outlived medical projections.

Tripp died in his mother’s arms on Saturday.

His mother, Courtney Roth posted an update on her blog “EBing a Mommy,” where she has chronicled her son’s struggle since he was just a few months old.

“My precious angel received his wings today. I have had many nightmares about having to write this post. He was exactly 2 years and 8 months old. It happened within minutes of me picking him up out of bed and rocking him.”
