Three Stooges Movie

Three Stooges Movie, Peter and Bobby Farrelly were once comedy kingpins whose films were greatly anticipated by tasteless jokes and gross-out gag aficionados.
These days, they’re lucky if any audience will latch on to their mostly good-natured but mainly low-brow conceptual humor that relies too heavily on silly physical moments that rarely drive their narratives.
When it works — like in “There’s Something About Mary,” “Dumb and Dumber” and “Fever Pitch” — The Farrellys sell the inane stuff with likable characters and an elusive humanity. When it doesn’t, you get silly but trite misfires like “Me, Myself & Irene” and “Hall Pass.”
Passion projects either nail it with audiences (“Avatar”) or completely swing and miss (“Heaven’s Gate”), so when a filmmaker obsesses and overspends, the studios are really flipping a coin.
The Farrellys’ pursuit of the “Three Stooges” property has been widely publicized, especially when they initially cast A-list stars like Jim Carrey, Sean Penn and Benicio Del Toro. Once those actors left the project, they struggled to cast it accordingly.
Once names like Sean Hayes (“Will & Grace”), Will Sasso (“Mad TV”), and Chris Diamantopoulos (?) surfaced as the fellas who would play Larry, Curly and Moe, respectively, buzz began to wane considerably.
