Kevin Mccarthy, Kevin McCarthy who acted on stage, in film and television over seven decades, died at age 96. He was best known for his starring role as the doctor who treated a panic to warn the world about the pod people from “alien” in the classic 1956 science fiction “Invasion of the Body Snatchers,” the obituary Los Angeles Times. But McCarthy also starred in the much deeper fare, including “Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman, where he played Biff son on stage and screen.

He and his sister Maria were orphaned after their parents died in the flu epidemic of 1918. While turned to acting, she became a renowned novelist, essayist and critic. Among his works were the best-selling novel “The Group”, on life after Vassar eight members of the Class of ’33. She died in 1989.
