The Osbourne Family

The Osbourne Family, AH, JUST what we’ve all been yearning for in these reality show-starved times: another dose of The Osbournes. Yes, the battered Brummie rock star, his angry wife and the reclusive Jack and Kelly are set to make their TV comeback soon, in a new animated version of their fly-on-the-wall doc. Well, when we say comeback

It’s only three years since the family attempted their last big return, with flop Fox “entertainment” show Osbournes Reloaded. It featured Ozzy, Sharon, Jack and Kelly in a madcap whirl of sketches, stunts and audience participation for one grand episode before being panned as “must-flee TV” and the “worst variety show ever” and promptly being ditched.

Still, we suppose it is six years since the original The Osbournes went out with a bang. Well, when we say ‘bang’ If we recall rightly, Sharon showed up late to her talkshow, Kelly felt hurt when Sharon criticised her wardrobe and Ozzy went to the dentist before rent-a-doctor Phil McGraw gave them all a good talking to about drugs (phew, just in the nick of time ).

The new series is a stop-motion version of the old MTV series, voiced by the foul-mouthed four. Sort of like Thunderbirds on, er, Thunderbird. It boasts an inspired title – The F’n Osbournes. At least, that’s what we’ll all be saying when it hits our screens. The brains behind it are Canadian animation house Cuppa Coffee Studios, who have the perfect pedigree: their most recent hit is Comedy Central animated horror-comedy Ugly Americans.

Apparently it will “combine absurd animated sitcom premises that only the Osbournes can pull off” (though the words ‘animated’ and Ozzy Osbourne don’t quite ring true). Exec produced by Sharon and Jack, the show is currently being touted around for sale to willing channels.
