The Next Great BakerThe Next Great Baker, Last week on Next Great Baker on TLC, the bakers had to take on Holiday cakes, and this week they had to tackle engineer cakes! But could the teams keep the drama down tonight? Read on for all the highlights of tonight’s episode!

Next Great Baker was back this week, and after all the drama last week, Minerva decided that she was feeling better this week. For their baker’s challenge this week, the bakers watched Buddy Valastro create a beautiful fondant covered cake, and he asked that they create a beautiful fondant as well – it could be identical to his, or something completely different, as long as it was impressive. Melo decided to make his standout by being shiny, but it did not impress Buddy much, although the fondant work was great. Meanwhile, both Chad and Ryan went with a tie-dye look for their fondant in an attempt to be different.

All of the cakes were actually very impressive, and Buddy said he would have put all of them in his case at the bakery. However, one cake stood out to Buddy, and the rest of us watching. That cake was Nadine’s, in which she had done some fondant draping – very classy looking! For winning the challenge, Nadine won a year’s worth of fondant, and a sheeter to help her create the perfect cake! Buddy offered Nadine the chance to choose the teams, or take immunity this week, and it was a no brainer for Nadine to choose immunity! So Buddy chose the teams – Heather M, Minerva, and Marissa; Chad, Melo, and Nadine; Heather G, Megan, and Ryan.

For their elimination challenge this week, Buddy told the contestants about some of his craziest cakes, ranging from moving vehicle cakes, to an actual flushing toilet cake! That only meant one thing, that the teams would be creating engineer cakes, that needed to do something impressive for the team to win the challenge. Chad, Melo, and Nadine decided to go with a theme park cake, which had rides, a smoke spewing dragon, and a volcano that shot out confetti. Meanwhile, Minerva, Heather, and Marissa were also going with a theme park cake, but it included a carousel, a tea cup ride, and a balloon ride, all of which were to be moving.
