101010 Binary, 10/10/10 Happy! There are a number of superstitions surrounding today’s date. 42, Sacramento State football had all the facets of his game working on Saturday against the University of Northern Colorado and the Hornets defeated the Bears 42-7 Business.

Returning home to beat the Hornets used a third team victory of the season and improves the Sac State record to 3-3 overall and 2-2 in Big Sky Conference play. For Northern Colorado, loss serves as your 3 rd of the season as the Bears record now stands at 04.02 overall and 1-3 in the Big Sky.

It was a slow process towards the first half as fans enjoyed an early 14-0 lead by the Hornets. Sac State dominated by the 1 st quarter, scoring twice in a one-yard run by Brian Hilliard and running back a yard dump pass to running back Stephan Tezanos Pinto-quarterback Jeff Fleming.

The Bears did not make a move up to 27 seconds left in the second quarter as wide receiver Patrick Walker scored on a nine-yard pass in northern Colorado, quarterback Matt Baca.

That would be all the Bears’ offensive production for the rest of the game as the Hornet special teams and defense units controlled Northern Colorado. Sac State in the 3rd quarter blocked a punt for a touchdown from 3 yards and forced a fumble recovery by Baca for 5 yards to the teams fourth touchdown of the game.

The Hornets led 28-7 at the end of 3rd quarter. In just six minutes in the 4 th quarter of Sac State to tack on another touchdown to bring the score to 35-7. Two minutes later, the Hornets get the ball from a frustrated Bears offense and scoring on a 80-yard pass to Morris Norris Fleming in a move that took all of 12 seconds. That took the score to 42-7 and that’s how it would end before a crowd of 9011.

Fleming threw for 184 yards and 2 touchdowns, while completing 13 to 20 passes with one interception.

Fleming said the win was huge for the team, coming off two tough loses to the University of Montana and Montana State University.

“It feels really good. We needed a boost to our confidence and we are as a team,” said Fleming. “Being so close and fall short twice and really felt good to be on the receiving end of win today.”

The defense had five sacks for a net loss of 35 yards, three of the bags belonging to defensive end Zach Nash.

Nash said the defense is aligned to the superior efficacy early in the game.

“You call the coach. The coaches prepared us for the maximum potential,” said Nash.

Coach Marshall Sperbeck said he believed the team effort than any mistakes that may have had.

“There are some things we need to clean, as every week,” said Sperbeck. “Apart from a few mistakes here and there, I thought we played pretty well.”

Sac State has a bye week before taking on the Eastern Washington University on October 23 in Cheney, Washington
