Texas Tanning Bed, The medical examiner is awaiting tests to find out exactly what killed a woman who was found dead in a tanning bed over the weekend. Shortly after midnight early Sunday, a man in Sansom Park called 911.

He said he had just returned from out of town and found his girlfriend dead in her tanning bed at the house.

Police and paramedics rushed to the 5700 block of Terrace Trail to find 46-year-old Rhonda Waits dead inside the bed.

According to a news release, the bed was not on, but did have a timer that turns the machine off after a set time had expired. Officers checked the machine and believed it to be in good working order.

Detectives also found a pair of special glasses used for tanning beds, and a CD player that was on but not playing music.

“It appears the deceased had been tanning prior to her death,” said Sansom Park Police Chief Randy Driver in a statement released Monday.

There were no signs of foul play or trauma to the body, police said. Officers also found medications belonging to Ms. Waits.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner is conducting toxicology and other tests on the body to determine a cause of death.
