Chicago Auto Show, Spyshooters worldwide had already taken the high performance supercharged Camaro testing at various levels of masking camouflage figure and the majority of the world of performance cars requires that we seek to pre-“mules” for the next Camaro Z/28. This morning we all had a pleasant surprise when we discovered that the turbocharged 2012 Chevrolet Camaro would rather bring the vintage ZL1 nickname.

The original ZL1 Camaro was introduced in 1969 with a 427-engine cubic inch big block Chevy and additional changes to make the perfect car for the race and the 2012 ZL1 Camaro follows a similar line of thought. Like the original, the 2012 ZL1 Camaro is based on a high performance engine option, but rather than being mass from 427 to 1969, the 2012 ZL1 Camaro is powered by the supercharged LSA 6.2L V8 found in the same the Cadillac CTS-V sedan, wagon and coupe. The supercharged LSA V8 makes 556 horsepower in the Cadillac and then demand that States announced today that it will in 550hp Camaro ZL1, it should be noted that Chevrolet refers to this figure as an estimate of number. When the Camaro ZL1 reaches showrooms in early 2012, real output could be 550 horses or it could be higher – but do not expect to be lower than this figure. In any event, with approximately 550 horsepower makes this production most powerful ever offered Camaro based on official power ratings.

The exhaust of the supercharged V8 Camaro ZL1 uses a special dual-mode setting that controls and modifies the volume of the exhaust system based on engine speed. That way, when you’re idling in a quiet neighborhood, the ZL1 maintains a low profile, but when you open it on the road – he makes his presence known as maximum volume. This configuration was originally used on the Corvette C6 and the ZL1 Camaro exhaust has been specially tuned for this configuration of high performance.
