Tanker Drivers Strike

Tanker Drivers Strike, The vote by U.K. fuel tanker drivers to go ahead with a strike for improving working conditions could be bad news for drivers paying already sky-high gasoline and diesel prices in the U.K., even if the strike doesn’t go through. Petrol tank drivers voted in favour of strike action as the Army prepares to step in to prevent a national fuel shortage.

The vote for industrial action means that almost 8,000 petrol stations across Britain face severe disruptions and could be forced to close.

The possible strikes follow a vote by 2,000 members of the Unite union, who were protesting over safety conditions and pay.

But just 1,001 of members voted in favour of striking, equal to 48.5 per cent. The union only achieved a 55 per cent majority for strike action because 12 per cent of members failed to vote.
