Take Me Out, WESTON model Damion Merry has told the Mercury he is going ‘through hell’ and cannot go home because of the backlash he has received since appearing on ITV’s dating game Take Me Out.
The 27-year-old featured again on the show on Saturday, and said the public reaction has seen him receive death threats and find matches posted through the letterbox of his family’s home in Milton Road.

He said: “I’ve had petrol cans on top of my car and outside my parents’ home in Weston as well as people sending me death threats.

“I recently went back to see my friends and family but now I can’t stay at my family home. It started after the show and I’ve started to get threats pretty much every day.

“It’s really petrifying and it’s awful for my mum. It’s horrible, it’s the worst time of my life at the moment.”

Police are investigating the alleged incidents.

Damion found notoriety when he first appeared on an episode on February 4, with fans describing it as the ‘most awkward moment in Take Me Out history’. The model embarrassed himself after admitting he was only interested in one girl on the show, even though several others wanted to go on a date with him.

He has also refuted claims made by national newspaper The Daily Mirror that he was about to get married when he auditioned for the show.

The paper claimed Damion failed to tell producers he was about to wed the woman he is now seeing, Sarah Ann Gras, but he says he was 100 per cent single when he auditioned for the dating game.
