T.J. Houshmandzadeh, The coach Hue Jackson wanted to make things clear about signing free agent wide receiver TJ Houshmandzadeh.

Houshmandzadeh is a Raider, for Jackson, not the quarterback Carson Palmer, so he did. Houshmandzadeh said he wanted in July, but was overruled by owner Al Davis.

“Carson Palmer had nothing to do with this,” Jackson said Wednesday. “I tried to TJ during training camp.”

Jackson said he and Davis agreed that the bodies of young people receive from Darrius Heyward-Bey, Jacoby Ford, Louis Murphy, Denarius Moore and Chaz Schilens are the future of the organization, and chose Davis as Derek Hagan adding more experienced the training camp roster, while Jackson wanted Houshmandzadeh.

Since then, the production of wide receivers has been little other than Heyward-Bey. Palmer, the new quarterback, was familiar with Houshmandzadeh, a former teammate in Cincinnati.

The circumstances had changed enough to nominate Mark Jackson Davis and Amy Trask executive director, working with Jackson in the decisions of the organization since the death of Al Davis on October 8, the waiving team for Houshmandzadeh Hagan. Wednesday, the team gave Hagan.

“Hey, like I said, when the coach makes a decision … he did,” said Jackson. “Well, now, suddenly, when I’m watching our football team and where we are, I say, ‘Hey, here’s a guy who can help us now that we are in a completely different situation, and that is why I did the I did. ”

Hagan, 27, made the roster of 53 players for being the most reliable receiver throughout training camp and the preseason, where he had 12 receptions for 224 yards and a touchdown. Hagan had 11 catches for 114 yards since the start of the season, including a five-catch, 61 yards in Week 2 game against Buffalo.

“I’ll be the first to say Derek Hagan has done a great job here,” said Jackson. “I love the young, and brought to the table. But if I can add a piece that we can do a little better than the quarterback has some familiarity with, the end of the day that’s what you have to do as head coach. ”

Houshmandzadeh appears relieved that football final memory will not be a drop in fourth-and-18 late in the 31-24 defeat to the Ravens against the Steelers in the playoffs last season. A capture would have taken a first Baltimore. The fall season ended the Ravens.

“It bothers me because I dropped the ball,” Houshmandzadeh said. “But I dropped the ball, and I am not ashamed to say it.”

Houshmandzadeh had tryouts with the Patriots, Giants and 49ers before finally landing with the Raiders.

Running back Darren McFadden (mid-foot sprain) joined the band linebacker Rolando McClain by (ankle), cornerback Chimdi Chekwa (hamstring), QB Jason Campbell (collarbone), cornerback Chris Johnson (tendon of the hamstring) and kicker Sebastian Janikowski (hamstring).

The Raiders Janikowski feel well enough to not have another kicker in camp, but it certainly has the Dave Rayner phone number listed in the event of a setback.
