Susan Wright Murder, A murder case that captivated Houstonians in 2003 and 2004 is getting some fresh attention with a made-for-TV movie.

The Lifetime Network will air “Blue-Eyed Butcher” on Saturday, a story based on the life of Susan Wright.

Local 2 Investigates has also learned a TV show producer from the Dr. Phil show sent Wright an email asking for an interview regarding the deaths of her children.

Wright’s children are not dead.

A source within the prison system told Local 2 Investigates the mix-up caused Wright, 35, plenty of heartache.

Wright was convicted in 2004 of stabbing her husband, Jeff, 193 times and burying him behind the carport of their northwest Harris County home in January 2003.

Wright’s lawyers argued the mother of two was abused at the hands of Jeff Wright and so were their two young children.

A Harris County jury convicted Susan Wright of murder and sentenced her 25 years in prison. The sentence that was later reduced to 20 years after an appeal.

KPRC Local 2 contacted the Dr. Phil show about the message sent to Wright and received the following response back Stacey Luchs, who handles public relations for the show.

“A junior producer reached out to inquire about Ms. Wright’s availability for an upcoming show. There was an inadvertent mistake in the body of the email. We sincerely regret this error.”
