Kirklands, EDMONTON – It was a meeting of the Edmonton Eskimos in practical classes on Wednesday by the Canadian Football League club welcomed back Randee Drew imports and Tremayne Kirkland to the fold.

Drew is expected to add some stability to the defensive secondary kicks in Calgary on Sunday, while coach Richie Hall Kirkland will continue to evaluate, a wide receiver that can also return.

The latter added ASHI slotback Fred Stamps went down with a dislocated right shoulder last Friday against the Toronto Argonauts.

“Looking at our school, get into our game (last Friday), our defense backup back was really our will (weakside) linebacker (Will Harris),” Hall said.

“It’s good to have someone there who knows what they’re doing, has played the game and did a good job for us.

“When he told us that if there was a possibility we would bring him back. Because we’re down on DBs, we have a real defense against (a situation where) you’re just not sure what you get there out. ”

Drew, who was released on 06 July, will be on the list of 46 players for Sunday. The defense of 28 years of age, again failed his medical training camp and was placed on the list of suspended due to a shoulder injury.

Drew, who broke into the CFL in 2007 with a star rookie season the Montreal Alouettes and was named the team’s nominee for both the defensive most outstanding player and rookie returns with high credentials, not to mention a strong conviction to grasp an opportunity, while Lenny Walls is maintained with a leg injury.

“I’m ready to go tomorrow, if I have,” said Drew, who joined the Esks last September after returning from a torn ACL in August 2008, after which he was released by Montreal.

“It’s a blessing. I was told that if things went here, I would be the first caller. They kept true to his word and now my goal is to help the Eskimos as much as possible.”

It certainly could use after half slow for the first time in the 29-28 defeat Friday in which the Argonauts was 94 yards in his final drive to win in the last minute.

“Things happen for reasons fun and different ways,” said Drew. “When I left, it was unfortunate and I was hurt. But I took it as a blessing that I went home, had the opportunity to see some family and heal, get 100 percent and continue working at my job. I ‘I have a lot of years left to play and hope to get in the field. ”

The most likely is that they do in some capacity on Sunday.

Kirkland’s immediate fate is unknown. Sprinter Portland State joined the Esks in the camp, was released and moved to practice the list on July 6, then released on 20 July absolute. He played two preseason games and recorded two receptions for 16 yards and had three kickoff returns for 79 yards.

Kirkland, who may be the fastest player on the list, battled a groin injury in his first season here.

MORE CHANGES IN STORE

With stamps on the disabled list for a minimum of one game, Jason Barnes moved from slotback, with Skyler Green and Kirkland provide depth at wide receiver.

Hall chose to go with Kirkland, instead of bringing back Efrem Hill, who most thought would be the obvious candidate to replace seals.

“Most importantly, Seals is one of our vertical threats and was actually the biggest reason,” said Hall. “Efrem did a great job, was a great receiver, but wanted to see more of a vertical thrust and is one of the assets has Tremayne, is to get the ball up the field.”

Meanwhile, defensive end Kai Ellis returned to work Wednesday, while Rod Davis missed linebacker Javier Glatt take its place. Saleem Security Borhot continues with Paredes.
