Star Jones Return The ViewStar Jones Return The View, Star Jones will return to The View February 22. She was one of the original hosts of the talk show when it premiered in 1997. However, Jones’ tenure on the show ended with her abrupt departure in 2006. She announced that she would not renew her contract for the following season during a live broadcast June 27.

This surprised her colleagues, including series lead Barbara Walters, who responded by forbidding Jones from returning the following day. Jones was replaced by Sherri Shepherd.

Walters later said that Jones asked her View co-hosts not to reveal that Jones had gastric bypass surgery. Jones retaliated by criticizing Walters for revealing details about an affair she had.

However, Walters confirmed Wednesday that Jones would return for the Feb. 22 episode. Jones is set to discuss heart health for women during National Heart Month.

“Star and I have been heart-to-heart now for many years,” Walters said. “We’ve had lunches together and discussions together … we had open heart surgery within months of each other. So we are very happy to have her on, and it will be a nice day for all of us to see her.”

Both Jones and Walters underwent heart surgery in 2010.
