Death Cab For CutieDeath Cab For Cutie, On Thursday July 7, Brixton Academy in London welcomed Death Cab For Cutie to their stage and deep as it seems, was a hell of a meeting of soul enriching. On tour with the key codes and latest album, which might have excused Ben Gibbard and his band to start the show with something new, but as soon as the introduction to blows “will possess your heart” began in a bold marker for rest of the night was firmly established downward and thereafter rarely disappoint the group was formed.

Gibbard, a provider of beautifully twisted melancholy, a man faced with a distinctive voice that there was some fears that this critic into the concert of what your voice sounds like live. No such concerns firmly crashed outside the park, but as had just begun to sing the first verses of the opening track, each person in the room knew we were in good hands.

It is always difficult for a band with a catalog revered songs to keep everyone happy Gibbard powerful lyrics have the ability to much deeper resonance with the core than their rivals (I mean, is there a more sinister notion still heartbreaking heart: “I will possess your heart?”) and songs like “I will follow Into The Dark ‘and’ Summer Skin ‘will surely arise in the soundtracks of many a life history of members of the public at a time or other. To hear these songs live in an environment as close as the Brixton Academy (the gradient of the plant to ensure that everything is close to the action) was a delight and Gibbard’s solo version of ‘I will follow You Into The Dark’ the hearing, which took his word for word, providing a real hair on the back-of-the-neck-stand-point.

However, what to leave out on the set-list that have proven to be a real dilemma for the band and if there is a complaint to be had, was that some of the much-loved songs is ignored for new tracks’ Come on, where is “Bixby Canyon Ridge, in particular? Leading to a slight pause in the energy of the audience howling. However, these quiet moments are few and even the fans of Twilight is appeased when the band sang” Meet Me At The Equinox ‘ Gibbons, the astute commercially, no doubt aware that the success of the film introduces new fans to the band and album sales do more.

There may have been the occasional growl on the set of austerity, but the strength of the songs was enough to elevate this to be something really special and make sure this was one of those concerts that linger in the memory for a long time to come.
